I set out for the bird reserve at Jeziorsko Lake hoping to photograph birds. Instead, the trip turned into an unexpected lesson in bumblebee photography. After weeks of dry weather, the water level was much lower than usual. The reserve also felt quieter than I had expected. Whether the low water level had affected the birds, I can’t say for certain. I simply found very little activity.

The poor summer weather continues. Rain, heavy clouds and strong winds have been the story of this summer lately. Better weather is finally on the horizon, but in the meantime I wasn’t ready to stay indoors. I headed to my favorite lake hoping for some bird photography, knowing the conditions probably wouldn’t be ideal.
