A cable car climbs towards Kasprowy Wierch, seen from the peaceful meadow at Kalatówki in the Polish Tatras.

For the past few months, my camera focused almost entirely on wildlife around my local lakes and rivers. This time, I traded my telephoto lens for hiking boots and returned to the Polish Tatra Mountains. I began my trip with an easy hike to the beautiful meadow at Kalatówki, where magnificent views of Kasprowy Wierch welcomed me.

Many years had passed since I last explored these trails. I often hiked some of the Tatras’ more demanding routes, including those equipped with chains and ladders. Returning after such a long break felt both familiar and exciting. Instead of choosing a strenuous hike on my first day, I walked to Kalatówki. It was the perfect way to settle back into the mountains.

The open meadow offers magnificent views of several Tatra peaks. However, the cable car heading towards Kasprowy Wierch immediately caught my attention. I watched the gondola climb steadily above the forest towards Kasprowy Wierch. It was exactly the view I had hoped to see again.

This visit marked the beginning of my return to the Tatras. Over the coming weeks, I’ll share more photographs and stories from the trails. Kasprowy Wierch is only the first stop on a journey through one of Poland’s most spectacular mountain ranges.

Have you ever visited the Polish Tatras? I’d love to hear which trail or viewpoint left the biggest impression on you. Stay tuned for more landscapes and hiking stories from this memorable trip.

    1. Thank you so much! 😊 I was hoping the cable car would add a sense of scale and lead the eye through the landscape. It was also a special moment because I remembered this view from my visits to the Tatras many years ago.

  1. Such a lovely view. I did not even know that Poland had such a wonderful looking place. I have a lot of Polish photography friends, but they have never posted images like this.

    1. Thank you! 😊 The Tatras are our highest mountains, and they’re well worth a visit. I can still feel them in my legs, but it was absolutely worth it! 😄
